Remington 870 wingmaster DOM

Could anyone help me date a Rem. 870 wingmaster? It has AA on the left side of barrel and the book says the first A makes it made in the month of march but the second A could be 1954 or 1980 for year. Thanks In advance for any help. Terrill.

    Does the "12 Gauge" on the barrel have a star in front of it? If it does then it is the 1980 year "A". Also, the serial number should have a letter in front of it. If it doesn't and the barrel does not have the star in front of the 12 gauge then it is the 1954 model.

    The letter in front of the serial number started in 1968. The star in on the barrel indicates a change in the barrel chamber or something, I'd have to look it up.

    Bode: Thanks for the help. I have the star before 12 ga. and a letter before the serial number so it's 1980 DOM. Will keep this info. for future reference. Best Regards Terrill.
