Not a whole lot of them were made is the reason you do not see many for sale. What is your question(s)[?]
Since I can't find anything online, where would I find the current value without looking in the gun traders guide?

The Gun Traders Guide, the Blue Book, and/or just about any other reference you care to mention is not going to be close to on the value for a Winchester Model 56. You are extremely unlikely to find a "current" value listed anywhere in a book.
To give you a better understanding of the Model 56, Winchester began production in January of 1926, and discontinued production at the end of 1929... just (4) scant years, and with a total production of just 8,597 total rifles. These facts make it one of the rarest Winchester .22 caliber rifle models ever produced. If your rifle is 100% factory original. it will have considerable collector interest. Collectors are often times very odd people, and they will typically pay way more $$$ for something that is rare or hard to come by than your average gun show table kicker. So with all of that said, there are several questions that need to be answered;
The first question that must be answered is this... is it 100% factory original (no alterations, and no refinish work)?
Second question... what is the actual graded condition?
Third question... which .22 cartridge is it chambered for (22 Short or 22 Long R.)?
Fourth question... Sporting Rifle or Fancy Sporting Rifle?
