Professional Ordnance Carbon 15

I bought a carbon 15 the first year they came out. Shot it very little over the years and the other day while cleaning it, I noticed the bolt is cracked on one side of the cam pin. Started checking this out on the web and found it is a common problem. I called Bushmaster and they want $250 +/- for a new bolt and barrel. Question: is this my only remedy? Any gunsmiths out there that can fix it cheaper.

Welcome to the forums. Why do they need to replace the barrel if just the bolt is cracked?

Since Bushmaster bought out Professional Ordnance, they changed the design of the bolt to their specs (AR15 type) and more than likely to a more reliable design. The new bolt will not line up with the old barrel, thus a new barrel. Also I'm sure it's to recap some of the costs of buying out P.O.

Sounds like they dont have any more of the original style bolts and can only use the new design.

The bolt on my Prof Ord Carbon 15 broke completely in half at the cam pin hole. I called them and they said to return the bolt which I did.

They sent me a brand new bolt that I just dropped in and was ready to go. This was before they were bought by Bushmaster.
