Thanks guys-With only a single letter no records are available from Rem.?! Site mentioned above lists 1921-1972 only. And mentions no other records are available!

If the gun has a serial number call remington at 1-800-243-9700, listen to the menu, I think it's option #7, give them the number and they will tell you the year
