I have a s&w 357 model 66xx what does the xx mean.

If you are referring to the -1, -2, etc., those are engineering changes that were made through the years.

The 66 is the model number. The number after it are the number of engineering changes made.

MAY I ASK , did you mean that the stamping actually reads xx , or that you only needed to know what the numbers (1 , or 2 , etc ) that followed 66 meant ?

I think the gentleman thought the 66-XX was the serial # and didn't want the whole # published????
