any ideas on how to remove a barrel on a colt python

    Is this a trick question? They are threaded just like most other barrels. But this may not be a good beginner project. It's not quite like removing a bolt from a nut! What do you have in mind here?

    Its a good question.

    The Python barrel is threaded and is screwed into the frame of the revolver.

    Removing the barrel can be a difficult project if it is rusted and damage to the gun can result by forcing it. When replacing the barrel the cylinder gap (distance between forcing cone and cylinder face) must set with a feeler gauge or similar, probably somewhere about 0.003 inches.

    I would recommend taking it to a gunsmith. He will have the proper tools to remove and and reseat the barrel without damage to that delicate instrument.
