Russian Saiga

I would like to add a Saiga rifle to my collection, but I'm not familiar with them. It seems that there are several advertised that are built at the Izmash factory in Russia, and they appear to be built on AK receivers, both dimpled and non-dimpled. Some with rifle stocks and some with pistol grips.

Any suggestions as to what to stay away from, or recommendations for ones to look for? Are they really "russian" made? I'm guessing they are subject to the same import regs as AK's are?

All you said is true. Izhmash factory, all Russian and you will find all politically correct. No hi cap mags, folding stocks etc. Great guns for the prices thats for sure! One of my shops best selling lines .

One correction - the saiga was offered for a short while back in the 90s and those take regular AK mags. Those had wood stocks.

There are Hi-Cap magazines and folding stocks available for the Saiga rifles and shotguns.

Learned something today . I didn realize they made them hi caps for the Saiga but of course I can sell or have them in NY anyway. Probably why I didnt know.
