Walther PPK in Massachusetts

Have a law abiding client living in Massachusetts wanting to purchase a stainless Walther PPK but tells me the FFL he is going thru doesn't believe he can transfer it for him due to an ATF restriction. What would the transfer restriction be based on? I can't seem to find one in my ATF Published Ordinances. Thank you for looking!

I think your client has his wires crossed. MA is one of the commie states like Crapoforina who put their own dumb restrictions on the purchase of firearms. In this case it's not a federal statue, but one originated in Mass that he is going to have to work out, if he wants to buy that stainless Walther.

Rufe-snow is correct. However, ATF has printed state/local restrictions in ATF P5300.5, State Laws & Published Ordinances - Firearms.

MA has a "drop test", & I think they still have a "sealed fired case" requirement. If you can't figure it out, check with the state Office of Public Safety.

He can also try another dealer, although I have found that most MA dealers know what they are talking about; a mistake could cost them dearly.

So, the PPK is made in Massachusetts but you can't own one there? [:0]

My client has told me that the FFL in MA made reference to "a chamber indicator" in regard to his reluctance to make the transfer. I think I'll call the FFL in question tomorrow and discuss his concerns/ reluctance, so I will have this info for future reference regarding any sales to MA. Thanks for the help!

In fact, there are MANY guns that are made in MA that are not legal for civilians to purchase there new (eg all of the Kahr arms pistols, and many others).

In this case, please give Carl a call at Four Seasons in Woburn MA.

Super friendly guy, knowledgeable, and IMO the best gun shop in the state.

I know as a fact he used to stock these, and if he doesn't have one in stock for your client right now, he can probably get one.

    Ah. . .the famous "Mass-hole".

The AG regs in MA are DELIBERATELY vague, so as to discourage the maximum number of gun transactions, etc.

If you continue to encounter difficulty, please see my last post.

    Indeed I would have it.

All you have to do to get it, counselor, is to click on the link I have provided above.

If you would do that and take a gander at the website, you'd also notice that Carl advertises new MA-compliant Walther PPKs for $479, and describes them as "hard to keep in stock". He also lists three used ones in stock for $400 each.
