[}:)] Sorry- too much to resist! The local clothing thrift store sells odd clothing for $2.00 per grocery bag. $2 worth of old, well washed cotton T-shirts will keep me in patches for a year. I shoot a lot of MILSURP that requires cleaning after every range session. That is a LOT of patches. Old shirt= no lint.
I usually use rags or buy whatever is cheap ($1/yard) at walmart.
I *do* like that old T-shirt idea!
I use Military patches. They are nappy [:0] on one side and the other side is a twill weave. Try Brownells and maybe MidwayUSA for these. Or grab a pack of 1000 if you are Military. Different sizes for various calibers. Whatever you do, make sure you use 100% cotton, because most or all synthetic materials are "slippery" and won't dig in to the fouling. They'll slide right over the fouling.
I guess if you want to make your own, get 100% cotton Oxford cloth shirts at the thrift store (get them XXXL and save [:D]) and use that for patches. The heavier the better. Oxford cloth has a bit of a texture to it that will dig into the fouling.
Anybody have a current source at a decent price?
