saw a 38 webley with a good bit of wear on the cylinder don't know yr or serial or model and at $900 i didn't ask wasn't intersested in buying but wonder what is so special about this revolver

    It's the only one with that serial number.

    About 4 times the value of it if in ratty condition.

    Keep in mind that pre-1898 pistols can be sold sans a background check Federally. That makes them worth more. But then , you may have seen an officer's model used in WWI or WWII.

    One of those above is mine. Having said this, I doubt the pawn price is reasonable unless the condition is darn good.

    They are junk, chambers are very loose and they shoot the 38-200, a 38 short S&W with a 200gr lobbalong bullet.
    Try for $29 but go as high as $30.

    The .38 Smith and Wesson loaded with a 200 grain bullet has crappy downrange ballistics but packs quite a whallop at close range- the brits wanted a gun with the same energy as their old .455 Webley but in a smaller caliber. To further expand on my earlier answer, if it locks up tight and works ok, I'd say it is worth $150 or so, MAYBE up to $200. Now a really nice condition one is another matter.
