REMINGTON 1100 AT THE PAWN SHOP

I found an 1100 at a pawn shop today that looks like it was used as a hammer. The barrel/receiver aren't too bad, but the stock has 1/8" to 1/4" dents from something sharp all over it. A refinish would be seious pain. What would be a fair offer for this gun. Thanks, Joe

A new stock isn't too expensive but you may find that some pretty bad dents can be taken out with wet cloth & a hot iron. Practice on a piece of old wood & you will see how you can often steam some pretty bad dents out.
Of course you should point them out & try to get as good a price as you can.

I would not spend any time with it until you know it will function properly. The dents came from misuse and I would guess the receiver was attached when the misuse occurred.

I pointed out all the defects and they offered it to me for $250.00 Is it worth this price??

1100 stocks are pretty common to find, and the price is in line if it's something you need.
Dents can be steamed out with a iron and a damp cloth, but if the grain itself has been broken it won't work very well.
If it's just a hunting shotgun, fill the voids with a filler and paint it up in a nice camo pattern.

That is too much for that shotgun. Keep looking.

It would have to be fully operational for me to give $250 .... that isn't outrageous, just a bit too much for me if I have to make repairs.

Try the heat and moisture to swell out bangs and dents. Then consider mrbruce's advice...that sounds like a good solution to me.

    Good Luck and ENJOY !

it sounds like someone parked an old atv on the showroom and the mud still on it with a flat tire. would you REALLY buy something like that?

what do you intend to do with the gun?

I planned on using it as a deer/bird gun. By next fall I'll need to find a buck barrel for it as it has a 26" vent rib on it now. I wanted something gas operated because I've got a bum shoulder and the 870 leaves me sore for a few days. It doesn't have to be pretty by any means, but I don't want to get taken either. I appreciate the advice you guys are giving me
