I have a colt SAA serial #330xxx and would like to find out when it was made and also find out how to fix a problem with it not being able to lock at half cock, it will lock with the hammer all the way back. This gun belonged to my Grandfather and I want to get it fixed so everything is correct but no restoration.

Your revolver was made in 1915.
Does the cylinder have long flutes? A rarer version and your serial no falls in that range. Just curious.
Hammer wear/breakage problems are typical on those old SAAs. Send it to someone who really knows what he's doing. Maybe Peacemaker Specialists.

The flutes on the cylinder go back about 3/8 inch from the back side of the cylinder, would that be the long fluted cylinder?
called a local colt gunsmith and he confirmed the trigger problem.

If the trigger has spring tension it is either a buggered up trigger sear or a chipped out hammer notch or both. There are three notches, the first or safety notch, a loading notch and a full cock notch.Take the hammer and trigger out and examine both. The trigger end must nest in both the safety and the half cock notches to be safe. You should be able to see the problem. The trigger if damaged will likely need replacing. The hammer half cock notch or loading notch if chipped out will need a weld & reshaping repair.
There are a number of good shops that will fix it.
I wouldn't send it to Peacemaker Specialists. I lost new 1st Generation parts there.
Collectors are hot after original 1st generation SAA Colt parts and will substitute modern parts even down to original springs and screws. So be sure you get your exact hammer back.
If you're real lucky, and it's unlikely, the trigger spring is weak or broken.
I'm assuming you can take the gun apart without burring the screw heads. If you can't, dont.
