Gun Serial #'s

I am thinking about purchasing a gun. It is a good deal, but I want to make sure it is not a stolen gun. I have the serial #'s. Is there a website I can go to to check out the history of the gun?

Be sure to get a bill of sale with the serial number, model and maker of the gun. Sometimes stolen guns are not listed with NCIC.

I would copy (or, better yet, photocopy) the seller's drivers license.

While some rural PD's will look it up for you on NCIC, most urban PD's will not. Every lookup must be associated with a case, in many departments; no one will risk a career to do a stranger a favor.
