WHAT BOLT WILL WORK ON A PRE '64 M70 .358 IF THE ORIGINAL BOLT IS LOST?

    The .358 Win is based on the .308 Win cartridge, therefore, a bolt for the .243 Win, 7-08 Win, and .308 Win should work.

    What Bert H. said with one exception. If it's the original bbl anything from the 308 Win. family will work, but if it's not the original bbl (been rebarreled) make sure someone didn't rebarrel a long action gun from the 30.06 cartridge family to 358. I've seen a few long actions that were redone to short action calibers. If that happened you'll need a longer bolt from the .06 family.
    You can measure the length of the magazine follower to tell.

    To my knowledge the pre 64 model 70 was only made in one length .Any non magnum pre 64 bolt should work but it may not headspace correctly.
    You may have to have the headspace reset by a professional.
