I'd like to know what is the BEST OIL, application that you can recommend for guns stored in my "not dust/air tight" gun cabinets in my basement.
Also when I have NIB rifles...and I leave them in the box...what is the best storage treatment for them?
What is the best OIL? for rifles out there?

Basements can also be problematic for gun storage in most of the US. Moisture constantly wicks up through concrete, seasonally causing high humidity that will ruin guns, despite any oiling. A heating unit (Goldenrod or light bulb), or a dessicant pack, will reduce the humidity inside a safe to keep your guns free of rust.
I store boxed guns in my safe if the box is small enough. Otherwise, I store the boxes separately. I have found some foam deteriorates over time, & I'm not willing to take a chance on the safety of the foam breakdown products.

There is something called (quoting off the package):
Sentry Marine TUF-CLOTH
Multi-Purpose DRY Protectant
For Extreme Conditions & Salt Water
--Cleans
--Prevents Rust
--Lubricates
Without Oils or Silicones
tested and Used by Navy Seals

I also got the liquid version, called TUF-GLIDE
I have used this on my guns (hard to get it inside actions and barrels, but you can do it. I use it on exterior finishes. It works wonderfully!! I was surprised. As an example, I have a nice carbon steel Randall hunting knife. I used the knife one day, came home and rinsed it off, dried it and wiped it down with the TUF-CLOTH. Then I did the absolute worst thing. I put it back in its leather sheath and forgot about it in the garage. I couldn't find that knife for about a year and a half and came across it by chance about 18 months later in the garage. I shuddered to think what it might look like, but when I removed it from the sheath there was absolutely no rust on it. So, the Marine TUF-CLOTH has my vote. (There is a lesser version, but I bought the Marine version......whatever that might actually mean.)
