Fire 32 auto amo in 32 S&W Long; 32 Mag?

I own a Ruger SP101 in 32 Magnum caliber and a S&W in caliber 32 S&W Long. Can I safely shoot 32 auto ammo in these? The rounds fit nicely in the cylinder and they are both 32 caliber so it seems to me that it would work. I have a lot of cheap surplus 32 auto ammo and thought it be a good thing to try. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this topic.

Therre isn't much of a rim on the 32 ACP case to keep it from being shoved into the cylinder...and two the bullet is .310 vs .312. Other than that it should work.

yes you can , i shoot 32 acp in my 32mag single six , matter of fact i did so just today , groups are usually center left and right but about 3" lower than my normal 32mag load , remember the 32 acp is a semi-rimmed cartridge , so its about the same as shooting a .22short in a 22lr ,

just make sure you clean the cylinder good afterwards

heres the target i shot today , groups where not real good but then i was just out trying to blast a few caps , not really trying to shoot for groups size , any way i didn't have my glasses on :(
lower left was shot with 32acp silver tip , top left was 32mag and top right was 32 s&w long

+1 to gskyhawk. Go ahead and use .32 ACP rounds in your Ruger. No problem. You'll find the recoil very mild. The empties will extract just like the rimmed .32 magnums.
