Hello Please be free with a little more information Primer wiping is a term that COULD mean many things to many people . What type of pistol Many brands of pistols other then a 1911 type are very prone to show a smear on the primer cause by movement of case head across the face of the slide because the firing pin is not retracted when the barrel starts to unlock. Some pictures of the primer and type of pistol would be a big help.

You could have a weak firing pin spring or crud in the hole. Take the pin out and check them. Also check the fit of the pin in the stop,to see if it has peened.
