CETME Front Sight Needs a good SMACK

My CETME is in need of front sight adjustment beyond what the little tool I got to do it can do. It needs to move over to the right about an 1/8 of an inch from what I can see. Is there a way to do this besides brute force. I figured a sharp blow or two from a plastic hammer would bend the thing back to where the actual sight tool would be enough to correct it. Stop me now if you know a better way.

I believe the base of the front sight is pinned and soldered. Hit it with a torch for a little bit and then see if you can twist it enough to get it where you want it. If not, torch and pull the pin(front sling ring is end of pin). Slide the sight assembly forward and change the pin groove in the barrell to the needed angle. put it back together and test fire. make sure you resolder the pin. It really isn't as much work as it sounds. Century was famous for this front sight problem.

    chaoslodge,

I believe you need to rotate the front sight assembly, via the charging/op rod assembly. The front sight rotates around the barrel and is stabilized by the charging/op assembly. I don't have mine handy right now but that is what my manual tells me. ...last time I looked.

Thanks to both of you. I really appreciate it. As cheap and clunky as this stamped out metal rifle is I really love it. I am glad I will not have to hit it.[:D]
