Plainfield M1 Carbine Question

I have a plainfield M1 carbine on the way, and was told by some that the 30rd mags will not usually work in an M1 carbine without installing a mag catch from the M2 carbine. Is this true as well for the Plainfield aftermarket carbines? If so how hard is it to swap the catch out, and if I do will the 15 rounders I have still work?

Thanks

Assuming your carbine still has a USGI trigger housing.....it takes about 5 seconds to switch the mag catch. It is retained by a pin; look at the bottom of the TH, & you will see a hole with the pin in it. Insert a pin punch in the hole & retract the pin (against spring tension); the mag catch will slide right out.

The M2 mag latch has a M on it.

But, you might be better off with 15 round mags. Many 30 rd mags don't work well, & USGI 30 rd mags are scarce.

I agree with nmyers cause i have an M1 Carbine the 30 rnd clip sometimes dont have the "spring" to get the shells to the chamber. My 15 rnd clips are 10X better and i tape them togeather so i do have a total of 30rnds.
i do the same thing with my 10/22 works wonders and saves me time of looking for the mags. Happy shooting

The 15 round is much better...problems with the 30 round and their spring.
