I have a Remington 1100 TRAP-T 12ga w/ 30 inch bbl FULL choke...The bolt on it will not snap shut as normally should happen, instead when you push the release button underneath, it just CREEEEEPs forward and does not close all the way.....Could it be it is just dirty from sitting in a closet for so many years or is it a more serious problem[?]perhaps the "o" ring??? ANY HELP???

dh....isnt the bolt carrier part of the o ring and gas piston system? if the o ring area is crudded from sitting from years 'cocked back' in a closet, it may be rotted to the mag tube and the gas system may be crudded up too?

The "gas system and oring" that's what OPENS the bolt during firing!! It has nothing to do with CLOSING the bolt, closing the bolt during firing or manually.
Unscrew the forearm cap, pull the forearm off, pull the barrel off, pull the o-ring and the gas rings off the tube, (Lay out in the order they are in so you don't reverse them when reinstalling). Push the carrier in, hit the slide release, pull out the slide/bolt. Using a small punch tap out the two pins that hold the trigger guard assy. Now you will see a little part sticking out from the rear of the receiver, (two legs that are attached to a wide flat bar if you will). It's this that pushes the bolt back to the closed position, from the spring in the butt stock. Using a small pair of needle nose pliers, press the two legs together at the narrow end. pull out.
Now your ready to remove the butt stock, remove the recoil pad, and go from there. Once the stock is off you will have access to all the moving parts inside the stock. If after a good cleaning the problem still exists, it's time for a new recoil spring. they will lose strength over time, but I'll bet it's just dirty!

you may want to get another O-ring anyway, I have the same gun
Viton O rings are best but the ones from the hardware store are cheaper and easily obtained.
Viton O-ring size 021 - for 12 gauge 1100 & 11-87
hardware store size 15/16"id 1-1/16"od 1/16" width
if it has been stored for longer than a yr the o-ring will have dried out and it will only take a few boxes before you have the opposite problem
could be your hammer has bruised & is rubbing on the fork thing it sits in..polish the hammer sides , & leave a nice chamfer, & greese. [;)]
