From the sunny south [8D],
Someone brought in a flintlock dueling pistol (I think) and a pistol that started life as a flintlock rifle, was cut down to pistol size/shape and converted to percussion....I know pictures are my best help to identify these guns (if possible) but where is the best place to ask about these pieces of history? I'm out of my arena on these firearms........
Thanks,
Jim

What's wrong with right here? We have several members that are experienced and knowledgeable about flints and percussion. While they are not sitting right here waiting, it wouldn't hurt to post the best information you can and then notify them if the wait gets too long.

I know I've left some folks off but these 4 came to mind quickly so post away and give the GB forums a chance to come through.
Best.
are very knowledgeable about, 19th Century and older guns. Please make an effort to get quality photos though. Without them it would just be guessing.
There are several of us who are fairly knowledgeable about these guns, and we got that way by being fascinated with them. So we'd dearly love to see pictures and might even be able to offer some halfway useful info on what we're looking at.
I would recommend that, if you go that route, and decide to post pictures -- start a new thread. Threads get locked after 10-11 replies on the "Experts" forum, and this one's well over halfway there.
