45 ACP Question

I have been looking at the S&W 325PD as a backpacking carry gun. Certainly capable of handling any 2 legged creature...how about 4 legged...mostly mountain lion and black bear...so far if you leave them along they leave you alone. Not sure 45 ACP would be enough for the bear...thoughts?

I have a 1911 Springfield/Novak custom, but I am in the market for a double action 45 and I believe that I have narrowed it down to the following: Ruger P-345..Springfield XP w/4" barrel...Glock 30...and possibly a Taurus Pro... Any comments or suggestions? Looking for long term reliability and decent accuracy. All comments are welcome...Thanks, Red

Get an XD. The grip angle is much better than a Glock, and the XD is the softest shooting 45 ACP I have ever shot.

Another vote for the XD....I have shot several and really like them.
I owned a G30 for a few years, but sold it as it did not fit my hand and after a few shots, I had to regrip.

Not a big Ruger or Taurus fan.

Shoot all of them if possible and buy the one that feels good in your hands.

Well you were asking about Double Action guns, the only Double Action on your list is the Ruger P-345, the rest are all striker fired guns. Have you looked at the Sig 220 or HK USP?
