How do you remove a 1911 barrel linkage ?

I'm trying to remove the barrel linkage (ring) and install on a new 1911 barrel, it looks like the pin can be punched out, I just don't want to mess something up. Thanks

Look on both sides and see if it is staked. Even if it is use a correct size punch and drive it out. They are not that tight.

It is the center punch mark right on the line between the ears and the pin.

The barrel has to be mounted solidly because a solid blow will be required to start the pin moving.
Use a short punch of at least 1/8" and a good size hammer.
Don't worry about any staking.
When starting in the pin on the new barrel, hold the pin with a pair of locking forceps so it doesn't fly.
Don't stake the new pin unless it's loose.
