I decided i would go out to the local pawn stores to see what i could find. I found a Browning A Bolt 30.06 with the Boss muzzle break with a NIKON MONARCH GOLD 2.5-10X50 in good condition the stock needs to be refinished but otherwise good shape, i traded one of my pistols and a old mossberg in on it. the total price is 700.00 even. Is it a deal or not? also what are the good and bad sides to Browning rifles if there is?
thanks for the responses

Per Bobski, it depends on what your trades were! If you gave him a Saturday Night Special and an old bolt action .410, that's one thing; tell us what you gave him to go 700.00 even. That will tell whether or not you made a good deal. Of course, there are those that say, "if both parties to the trade are happy, it was a good deal." If you're happy with your Browning and feel good about the trade, then you done good.
oh the stock is the regular wood finish..

the scope wasnt included with the price, just the gun its self the guy at the pawn shop know the scope is a good one he just couldnt sell it off of the gun. Second issue is he has alot rifles and such this one had been on his self for close to 6 months. it was listed for 800 talked him down to 700. my pistol was a tarsus 92ar and mossberg shotgun. I still have it on layaway. i get my refund and pay it off.. the first guy to post seem to be an *.. i would be asking these questions if i knew.. to the rest thanks for the input..

You come on here as a rookie asking for information. You say you got a rifle with a scope and traded a pistol and shotgun.
Then you won't give the specs on the pistol and you still haven't given the specs on the shotgun.
Then you say the scope wasn't included. So why did you even mention it?
Then you call one of our forum members an *.
No wonder this was the title of your thread:

I agree... All nambu did was give you a thumbs up or your purchase. FYI, it would do you well to read some posts before you call someone an *. Nambu happens to be a very good contributor here.
Which you haven't purchased yet and for which you failed to mention you are getting taken because now that pawn shop owner won't throw the scope in on the deal. NO! you didn't do well. Go back and get your stuff and if you still want that rifle start over. I'd say the shotgun, because it says Mossberg, would bring $100. Same with the pistol. If the dealer doesn't like what you're offering him, tell him theres a recession going on and the rifle can sit for another six months. Better yet, offer him $500 and don't trade your stuff in.

Deeper2dive,
Since you already have the rifle on layaway, it may be a little late to ask such an opinion as to whether you got a good deal or not. In my opinion you didn't make such a good deal. If the stock is in such a state as to need refinishing, it certainly isn't worth what you traded and then are paying for it. Without the scope this deal is way too high. If you can get out of this deal without losing any money, I would.
Good Luck with your rifle.
Best.
