I have a shotgun that shoots winchester sabots #SRSH12 Hi-Impact hollow point slugs 50 cal. It seems that winchester doesn't manufacture this ammunition anymore. Anybody know if this is true and what slug is the closest replacement. I have tried many that are not as accurate.

I used to shoot the exact same slugs out of my Rem 870. I was very disappointed when they stopped making them 2 yrs ago. I experimented with several other slugs including Lightfield Hybrids which leave a devastating hole(twice the size of the winchesters) but aren't very accurate beyond 50yrs. Hornady SST's which are extremely accurate and I switched to them for the 2006 season but was not impressed with the stopping power. I shot 2 deer high in the shoulder, which should have dropped them on the spot but both ran 60-80yds before expiring. I now use the new winchester platinum tips. Highly recomended. They are extremely accurate out to 100yds (2.5in 3 shot group) and have great knockdwn power. Slightly smaller hole in a target than the Hi-Power but equally as effective. Give em a try, im sure you'll be impressed. Winchester also has a Gold sabot out now, but i haven't tried them yet.
