Scoping a Browning semi-auto .22

Hi,

Do you have to remove the folding rear sight on a Browning semi-auto .22 (the takedown .22) in order to install the #60A scope mount of does the fold down sight allow you to install the mount without removing the sight?

Thanks,

Mike

    Mike,
I no longer have either of my Browning Auto's, but if it's the mount that screws to the barrel and extends back over the receiver I recall that yes, the folding sight has to be removed.

    Rob,

That's the one. Since it is a takedown rifle, Browning designed the barrel mount for the scope in order to prevent losing zero when the rifle is broken down. Sounds like a good idea. We'll see.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I do not believe the sight has to be removed. Will look at mine Sun. or Mon. after I get back home from vacation and post confirmation.

I don't have a Browning, but I have a Norinco ATD, which is a cheap Chinese copy of the Browning and uses the 60A scope base. I had to take out the site to install the mount. Just tapped it out with a brass drift and a small hammer. I ended up going back to open sights on it, though.
