I received a Browning 4X rifle scope, but can't find any info on it. It is simply marked, "4X D50959 BROWNING" on the left side. Plain crosshairs. Looks like it might fit nicely on a .22 rifle. Any info appreciate, value, years made etc. Thanks

pretty sure made by redfield. I assume it is a 3/4 inch tube. I've been looking for one How much? My email is tommurtha@yahoo.com

These scopes were made by Redfield and do have the 3/4" tube. The ones marketed under the Redfield name were call the Sport-STER 2.75X and Sport-STER 4X. The STER stands for Standard Eye Relief. The size is appropriate for a .22 LR but I understand they were designed to withstand centerfire rifle recoil. I have a couple and paid $150 each for them last year. They show up on the big internet auctions fairly often.

It has been my observation that the ones marked Browning draw premiums over those marked redfield, provided the condition is excellent or better.

The "Redfield" marked Sport-STER 2.75X and 4X Standard Eye relief Rimfire was produced between 1965 and 1973.
    What's next?
