Thanks but I'm looking for some tech. advise. Many on E-Bay but I'm not sure what to look at? Just need a basic good quality SIMPLE telescope for looking at stars. Don't need it motorized nor computerized just one that is easy to use with good optics if there such a thing?

My sister picked one up for her 10yr old son last Xmas. It was about that kind of money and worked well. If I remember right it was a 10" dia and came with two different eyepieces. She got most of her advise thru her local observatoryis giftshop and its website. You might also look into local stargazing clubs in your area and on line. She was able to get lots of help those ways.

had a couple of cheaper ones & if you don't buy quality lenses your experience will be less than satisfying...one with a digital camera adapter would make it a lot more fun

Just like guns soo many options, bells and whistles. I would do some research and calling around to make sure you don't get screwed before buying. I would check local malls or some out door stores
