Years ago had one of these guys and it was awesome ! One ragged hole about the size of a .243
Two problems: cant remember what brand or weight I was shooting and two, one variety I tried wouldnt feed consistently.
As you quessed, I have another now and just left the local walmart empty handed as I had a choice of three varieties from $9-$16 a box and didnt want to stock up on the wrong stuff or take a gamble and drive an hour to shoot and then get frustrated
Any experience here will help !

If it was years ago, only winchester and federal loaded this round. they both made 40 gr sp and fmj, federal also made a 50 gr fmj. my guns worked best with winchester 40 gr sp.

rovernut I hate to disagree but CCI has also made 22 Mag for a long time. My H&K 300 loves the CCI 40gr JHP...shoots it in one hole. That said each gun can have its own preferences. Best to buy a box of most everything and try it all out. Find something that works...buy as much as you can of the same lot and never look back. Good luck!!

Mine preferred the RWS jacketed hollowpoints. Lovely little buggers they are, and like the rifle, from Deutschland.
