Yeah, honing the chambers is no great feat of skill, but will allow you to dump the empties by opening the gun, tilting it back and letting them fall out. If you shoot SASS, then you know that most modern shotguns have ejectors that pop out the empties when you break open the gun. Ejectorless side-by-sides are required for SASS. Honing is done with fine sand paper on an appropriate sized wood dowell, a gadget much like a brake cylinder hone or maybe a combination of both.
This particular gun was probably NOT cut down, but manufactured for Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS). The safety was removed to make it easier to handle for CAS. It probably did not have ejectors on it when purchased new. Probably NO action work has been done on this gun, so the action will be stiff. The gun may not have been actually manufactured by Remington, but by one of Stoeger Arms (a division of Beretta, now) suppliers, either in Italy (preferably), Turkey, or somewhere else. These coach guns can be had from several suppliers now. Used, this gun is worth no more than $200 (to me, anyway), what with shipping, fees and such. Your local FFL guy will probably tack on his profit just to order it for you. Locally, here, that's about $75 to $100, making GB virtually impossible for me to buy from. See what your local shop can order new for you, and check out the CAS distributers (your local dealer can order direct from them), such as Taylor's, Cimarron, EMF and others. If you can pick up a copy of The Cowboy Chronicals, the SASS monthly newsletter, there are a lot of ads.
