What does this meen on a SxS shotgun?

    the hammers rock back a little to allow the firing pins to recess back into the action making it a lot easier to break it open.

    And there may be a weak spring to retract the firing pin after the hammer backs away from the firing-pin tit. Joe

    It also means that the hammer will not strike the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled all the way back. You can check this by letting the hammer down, if it has external hammers, and then letting go of the trigger. The hammer will "rebound" under spring pressure and when you push forward on the hammer with your thumb the hammer will not contact the firing pin. It is a safety feature.
