What kind of Mauser do I Have Here?
![Horse Plains Drifter](https://forums.gunbroker.com/applications/dashboard/design/images/defaulticon.png)
I was going through guns today updating my serial number list and I came across this Mauser rifle I bought about 10 years ago. I bought it just for the action to do a build, but just what exactly is it? Looks to me like small ring and German, and it's 8mm. Thanks in advance for any help.

If it's still all there, you would be an idiot to butcher it.
This is what you have:
WWI German KAR98A
"1.30 diameter. receiver ring, 8.750 in length, with screw spacing, of 7.835 (Long action, Small ring).
Has a threaded shank diameter of 1.100 in. With 12 threads per inch.
WWI German Carbine, Also Polish 98az Uses a standard M-98 Bolt."
This means that you have the Small Ring O.D. with a Large Ring thread. This set up leaves very little material around the threads. The pressure level should be left to the low side without any trick stuff. The standard 42,000 PSI 7 x 57 Mauser loads would be perfect along with the current chamber of 7.92 x 57 Mauser. About anything else will have to be handloaded down in pressure. There are exceptions of course and will be pointed out by someone I'm sure.
Best.
