I am looking for any info on a german made shotgun (I Think). On the top rib is Carl Grundig, Dresden. On the thumb release to break the barrel open, appears to be the letters M H in gold inlay. Any and all info would be great.

Thank you

Nothing in my references on Grundig. If you have photos of German proof marks, approximate DOM might be established?

    opsman614,

    Welcome to the Gunbroker forums!

As rufe-snow points out, you need to supply us with sharp photographs of the proof marks and makers marks that should appear on the water table and underneath the forearm of the shotgun. I don't have a reference to Grundig either.

Thanks guys. I have some new info after taking it apart. After looking it over, i found the words "Hubertus Gewehr" in the engraving on the exterior of the receiver. The word "Hubertus", and initials "HB" on the inside flat part of the receiver. A W with a crown above, a U with a crown above. The rib has Carl Grundig, Dresden. Gold Crown above the initials M H on the break open lever are 1/2" tall. The trigger guard and under tang safety are made of some sort of stag??? as is the buut plate. The words "EHRHARDT over a circle with a diamond in it and the word LAUF" under it, this is on the exterior of the barrels. it is also marked NITRO on both barrel. I am new to form and not sure how to post pics, but willing..

    Thank you.

I wanted to add that this is a 16 gauge I assume, as it does have a 16 with a circle around it.

    opsman614,

Some instructions are at the top of the 'Experts" forums in a Sticky marked "Posting Photographs'. It should get you started.

Nitro = proved for smokeless powder

    Crown over W = choked barrel(s)

Crown over U = Proved in final assembly

'Lauf' = fluid which is usually used in conjunction with the term Stahl which means steel. Fluid steel is the new version used after twist steel or Damascus steel. It could withstand higher pressures.

I'm hoping that you mean horn instead of stag. Horn was very common on fine rifles and shotguns. If you hold it in an angular light you should see some layers.

    Best.
