700 BDL "Custom Deluxe" Model??

I recently purchased a NIB Remington 700 BDL "Custon Deluxe" in a .300 Win Mag caliber. It's a great looking gun, now out of production I understand. I thought that all 700 BDL Custom Deluxe models had engraving on the botton of the mag plate and on both top sides of the receiver and of course beautiful wood. I have heard that some do and some don't have the engraving. My gun does not. Please educate me as to the Custon Deluxe model BDL (printed on the end of my box with matching serial #'s to my gun), ie. just what is a Custom Deluxe model Remington 700 BDL? Thanks, Dave

Custom Deluxe is a marketing term. It doesn't really mean anything. About all it does is separate the BDL model guns from the ADL models.

There was a short stint where Big Green(Remington), and I believe it was around 1997-2001 or so, had the "fine line engraved" BDL. This came on the blued and stainless/synthetic guns. All it was is a roll stamp type of engraving. From its inception of the first BDL, other than this enhanced model, or a custom shop gun, they have all had no engraving. Just the Monte Carlo stock, and black fore end tip, and the Mag models had a recoil pad. I had a 700 BDL in 300 Win, and it was an absolute dream to shoot, and a tack driver to boot...out of the box.
