Just wondering if any of you experts have ever heard of a Luther Hardware 410 single shot shotgun ? It was manufactured in Des Moines IA and from what little I can find from internet research must have been manufactured in the late 1800's. Would appreciate it if anyone can give me any insight ! thanks

    i doubt this gun was manufactured in the 1880's the 410 bore did not come into use until about 1915 or slightly earlier. here is a time line for H&R single barrel markings and most other company will fall within a plus or minus 2 year period of these times.
    mark---years----chamber length
    44 CAL=1909-1915 2 inch chamber
    410-44=1916-1921 2 1/2 inch chamber
    410-12MM=1922-1936 2 1/2 inch chamber
    410=1937-1941 3 inch chamber
    i believe winchester was one of the first used of the 410 bore 3 inch chambers about 1935.

    "Luther Hardware" appears to be a unknown wholesaler/retailer so pictures will be needed to help determine actual manufacturer.
