17 hmr ballistic vs. 17 hmr hollow point

Does anyone have any insight into the difference in these two rounds for hunting varmints? Knock down power, damage, wound channel, etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the plastic tipped 17 grain ammo will explode, and create a violent wound channel. The 17 grain hollow points are basically the same. The new 20 grain soft points have controlled expansion to minimize tissue destruction on edible game, and would give a little deeper penetration.

The ballistic tips have a better BC than the HPs...accuracy is about the same. The 20 gr bullets carry a little more smack but have more of a rainbow trajectory. Buy some of each and try them out...you will find out your rifle probably likes one better than the rest...it will be the most accurate. That is the one you should use.

Mine likes the ballistic tips the best too. But my friend's 17HMR likes the 20gr HP the best.
