Remington Model 66 Front Sight

I have a 66 that I'll soon be putting up for auction on the other side; original box, hang tags, scope, owners manual, etc. Has been fired, but looks new except for a rust spot on the front sight that, fortunately, hasn't spread to the barrel. Question is, do I wait until I can find a mint front sight to install, disclose same and include original sight, or just post as is with pictures and disclosure on the sight? A judgement call, I'm sure, but I'd appreciate the perspective from others who have been doing this far longer than I.
Thanks,

    Rob,

Full disclosure is the best route to take. Include close up photos if you have the capability to do so. Include dimensions (1/8th inch by 1/3rd inch) of the rust spot. Offer to discuss the rust spot on the phone or via email with a prospective buyer. The most important thing is to prevent any surprises when the buyer opens the box with his/her new purchase in it.

Just disclose the rust spot and take good pictures of it. They're only $10.85 at e-gunparts.com and the buyer will take that into account. They may even prefer to refinish the original. Since you have the box, paperwork, etc., you'll still get a good price for it as they've become quite collectible.

As a collector of these rifles my advice is to leave it as is, take good pics, and disclose all when you list it.

Make sure to post a link when you get the auction up and going.

Thanks to all. I'll be sure to let you know when it goes up. Likely 2 to 4 weeks. Would like to have a few more lesser sales in my resume before asking anyone to trust me on a larger investment. At the moment I have 1 sale/feedback (A+), 4 more in the mail, and about a dozen other listings; dies, holsters, that kind of thing.
