I have a Winchester 90 WRF in good condition. The wood is good the blue looks a little too good and I believe it to be a re blue job. Could some one take a look and give me an opinion on value? I'm looking to trade the gun to a family member and I would like some opinions. I have pictures but I would need to e-mail them. Thanks Gary T

OK, after editing (cleaning up the clutter), I managed to get both of your thumbnail pictures to load. What you need to do, is to attach the full-size pictures (sized to no more than 800 pixels wide, preferably 800 x 640 pixels) versus the thumbnail pictures.

The serial number indicates that it was manufactured in November of 1915, and that it should be a Model "1890" versus a "90".

Bert H. Thanks so much for your reply and your patience. I think I have it right this time. Please let me know if more photos or description is needed for an estimate on a "trade value". Does the caliber WRF add or detract from the gun's value? At one time the ammo was hard to get but I believe they are producing it again. I have 500 rds of ammo that will go with the gun so pleaseinclude that in your estimate. Thanks again for the response and sorry for the newbie mistakes. GT

Your Model 1890 has definitely been refinished, and that fact makes it a "shooter" versus a collectable rifle. The rear sight appears to be a California full buckhorn... has it been refinished too? If not, it is worth at least $125 all by itself.

The 22 W.R.F. cartridge chambering usually adds a small premium to the collector value, but it has no affect on a "shooter" grade rifle.

I do not have a good feel for what people are willing to pay for a refinished Model 1890 these days, but suspect that it is worth at least $250 if it has a decent bore.

Bert, The sight has unfortunately been refinished with the rest of the gun. The sight is marked "Marble's Gladstone Michigan"

The bore seems to be in great shape and the action is smooth and reliable. Do you think a trade value of $400 is within reason?

Personally I do not, but that does not mean the someone else would not. $300 (with the ammo included) is a more realistic value. Keep in mind that Winchester Model 1890s are very common... even though it was more than 60-years ago that the last one was assembled by Winchester.
