I have a wood stock with some dents and dings I would like to hopefully remove. I have heard of "steaming the dents out"but do not know how to proceed with doing so. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Take a damp washcloth and an iron set on "STEAM". Lay the washcloth across the dent and put the hot iron to it for a few seconds. Do it first on the flats until you get a feel for it.
It will usually raise the wood 50-75%.

Use distilled water. Works best on bare wood. Try your skill on scrap wood first.

Clean the stock first, you can set stains with heat.

The steam must penetrate into the wood and cause wood fibers to expand in order to raise a dent. If the stock is sealed with oil, laquer, etc. the steam will have difficulty penetrating and you will not be pleased with the results. Also, often the grain of the whole area steamed will raise requiring light sanding to level it out again.
