I have a weatherby 270 that looks exactly like one on gunbroker for sale that says mark V

Mine has no markings other than "weatherby 270 magnum" "South Gate California" and a 4 digit seriel number.

Did all mark v's say mark v?

what model would look exactly the same?

Does anyone know why the prices vary some much from $400 to $1400?

    Mormonb,
There is many different grades of Weatherby MarkV's this is the difference in price.

For any real clearification you should post some good clear pics of your rifle. Give close ups of the markings and someone can probably help you [:)]

Look at the side of the receiver, it should say the model. If not, then look at the bolt. The mark V uses nine locking lugs arranged three to a row, to make the bolt have less travel when opening or closing it.

You probably have an original Weatherby made in South Gate from a Mauser action. The stocks look identical. These ironically are not worth more than the newer ones.
