Replacing an Ithaca recoil pad

My Model 37 Ithaca (371418551) recoil pad is deteriorating and I bought a Limbsaver as they work well on my O/U Beretta.
I'm having second thoughts about possibly decreasing its'value if I install a different style pad.
Should I forget it and install the better pad?

The 37 is a heck of a shotgun and installing a new recoil pad will not hurt the value one little bit, so have right at it.... Your shoulder will thank you...

IF you can install pad without cutting the stock then I say do it [^]However I would Never cut original buttstock see if you can find another buttstock and install pad on it .Don't think you can find one at later date they are only going to be harder to find later. Just my $.02

Thanks. It'll be a direct replacement so wood wont (hopefully) be touched.
The limbsaver has been sitting on the desk so long it's probably stuck to it.
I've got to resolve my dismantled gun problem.
It's down to six which is too many.
