S&W 9mm rev ID info

I am not a gun collector, but just obtained a used S&W 9m revolver, 6 shot, 3" barrel that I would like some info on such as Model #, date of mfr, and approximate value in a retail gun shop. Thank you for your time and assistance.

    SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A 547 S&W. THEY WERE DISC. IN 1985. PRICE DEPENDS ON CONDITION; DO YOU HAVE THE BOX AND PAPERS? IN V.G. CONDITION $300.00 OR MORE.
