A couple months ago
I shipped ammo using the downloadable
logo on this site.
The transaction went quite smooth.
Yesterday,same circumstances,same store
except the counter person says he isn't
certified to ship the ammo.
He says the store is contracted out,
go to the main hub 20 miles down the road.
I explained to him that I had no issues
He responded with the other counter person should
have not shipped it.
He finally said he will ship it but he'll
ask the truck driver if he should cover up the
"ORM-D" and if he does and something odd happens
and the authorities find out ,I'll be responsible.
He also said they don't ship handguns at that store
and if he ships a long gun and gets damaged "good luck
trying to get re-imbursed.
What gives?
One guy says, he can ship- The other no.

You may want to consider Fedex; they will ship small quantities of ammo, but ONLY if packed according to requirements, & they have a scheduled pickup from you (they will NOT accept it at a hub). Fedex permits the shipment of any kind of firearm from their hub OR a Fedex Office store.

Set up an account with UPS; it's free.
Pack your ammo securely and affix the ORM-D label.
On the UPS website, create a shipment, charge it to your credit card,
print the shipping label and tape it to the package.
Hand it to the UPS truck driver.
Works for me.
to Ruger thru a little satelite UPS store.
I've shipped a long gun to H&R thru UPS (store.
and Ammo as well.
Maybe I just finally ran across a guy who cared
enuff to let me know the rules.
To be honest I thought all UPS stores
were owned and staffed by UPS people.
OH well ,learn something everyday.
Thanks guys
Sometimes its best to be vague and ambiguous dealing with counter folk.
I wouldn't tell someone that. A guy I knew shipped ammo through a UPS store about 10 years, no ORM-D, didn't tell the counter people what was in it. That ammo ended up on a UPS airplane. The box broke open. Federal Agents were at the guys door the next day. That costs the guy a lot of federal misery, a lot of attorney fees, and one great big fine.
President.
The ATF is first to go, then immigrations
and last but not least the legislature and judicial braches.
