Good afternoon. I charge $3.00 for information about old shotguns ($4.00 for correct information). After all, I have to reach for the reference book, open it to the proper place and read what is printed there. Please place a $3.00 bill in the small slot on your computer and hit the send key.Do not use a $5.00 bill as my computer is not programed to make change and I will tell you that it depends on the model of the gun.If it is either a Davenport single shot or a Model 1908, the gun was made in 1908. If it is a Model 1912, then it was made in 1912.

Ned, thanks for the reply. I pulled the stock & forearm and the hinge pin, looking for markings besides what I described. Other than ser# stamped in four places, there is not another mark anywhere on the gun except a 7 stamped below ser# on stock under buttplate. Am clueless as to the model.

I wish I could answer the question of how to describe the differences between a H & A Model 1908 and a Model 1912 but there is no description or illustration of either in my reference book. About all I can tell is that they made almost eight times as many Models 1908 (70,001+) as they did Model 1912 (9,001+) so there is a good possibility that the gun is a Model 1908.

Who says arms experts must be humorless? Good one, Ned!
