I have read that the Canadian Ross Model 1905 Mark I rifle had no provision for bayonet attachment when first adopted; the bayonet came along about 1907. I have never seen a photo of the 1905 Mark I. Did it have a steel nose-cap and full-length forearm, or did the forearm terminate just ahead of the barrel band/sling swivel, leaving an exposed barrel like a sporter rifle? I have seen photos of the 1905 Mk II with full-length fore-arm, steel nose-cap with bayonet lug.
