Can anyone help me with Colt information?

Greetings. I am trying to find out information on a Colt Lightning rifle. The factory letter states:
Sold to: "M & C"
"L C"
Address: Hong Kong
Shipped To: Hartley & Graham
Adress: New York, New York

Has anyone ever seen this before on a Colt Letter? Why is it sold to Hong Kong and shipped to New York? Was it common to sell to out of country buyers?

Thank you.

"The Book of Colt Firearms" notes many similar types of overseas sales. Colts were very popular and prestigious sporting/military firearms in the 19th Century. As everything was shipped by sea during that time frame, Colt would have shipped the rifle to Hartley & Graham who were a large wholesaler/distributor of their firearms. H & G would have intern put it on a boat to "M & C" "LC" who were either a retailer or the actual buyer of the Lighting in Hong Kong.
