What is the biggest caliber currently available for a rifle? A friend (big bore lover) was asking. I mentioned the T-Rex but was unsure of the cal.

The 720 Jongmans. Fires a 1048 grain at 2265 fps for 11941 ft-lbs of energy.
The 950 JDJ. This one is also based on a 20 mm Vulcan rotary cannon cartridge. The 20 mm case is shortened and bottlenecked to accept a .095-inch projectile. The rifle fired a bullet weighting 3600 grains at 2200 fps. The custom rifles (krieger barrels and McMillan single shot rifles) weighed over 100 pounds!

The 950 JDJ has 0.95-inch diameter bullet.

Now that I think of it what does a 40mm qualify for? It didn't say that the round had to knock you into yesterday. I've fired a bunch of those...inert round...basically a bullet.
