I was recently given a J.C Higgins 16 Ga. bolt action shotgun marked model 583.21.
The stock on this gun is broken completely in two, and has been glued together (badly I might add). I have seen more than a few model 583's but they have a different suffix. Stocks look the same. Can I bed a 16ga. barrel assembly into a 583.?? built for a 12ga. action without modification?
