Hi cartod: It's a 50s to early 60s gun box. If you turn it over you will see a stamp from the box manufacturer, it usually has a year code such as "52" or "56" in the out edge of the stamp along with the box info.

To determine what guns it might be for, the LxWxH is really needed. But looking at the last photo only one of two guns came in that box. a Md 21 or 24.

Get back to us, with the answers to my questions.

Cartod, if you look at picture #4, you see the "long sleeve". I've only seen these used on SxSs.

The box sleeves are different on a Md 12,37,50, 59, and 97.
Wrong box for a Md 1911 SL, or a Md 40. Too big to be a Md 42 box, too small to be a Md 25 box, (it was a non-take down gun).

The reason it has no end label, well that's because it wasn't used to ship a "new shotgun". When people would return there gun to the factory for repair or upgrade, Winchester would use a non-label box to return it.
Another way to date the lid, look just below the "Olin":

    Winchester Repeating Arms Co.
"A Division of Olin Industries" Dec.30,1944-Jan,1952

    Winchester-Western Division
    "Olin Industries, Inc Jan.1952-Aug 31,1954

    Winchester-western Division
    Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp. Aug. 31, 1954-Sept 1 1969

Again I think you'll find that it dates after Aug 54 but before 1964.

    Regards Dave

look at the indentations in the paper where it would have been folded at the ends. you might be able to see if it was a double bbl or a single bbl or the gauge.

Hello cartod: I said earlier it's a "return box" since it has no end-label. Winchester returned a shotgun that was in or repair and or upgrade. "6-65" is the box date. This is one of the last boxes of this style

I wondered if that was the date, thanks again Dave.
