What is the proper procedure and order to tighten Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 action screws? Any specs for tightening the forearm screw? Thanks.

    Fairlane66,

If the action is not pillar bedded, get it done. The accuracy will be improved as long as the barrel and shooter are capable.

If the action is pillar bedded, I start with the front screw to snug then the rear screw to snug then start the center screw to snug. Tighten the front/rear to 55-65 in/lbs. and then tighten the center to just past snug. No gorilla gripping allowed.

    Best.
